SEN admissions

We operate in accordance with the North Yorkshire County Council’s School Admissions procedure. All governing bodies are required by section 324 of the Education Act 1996 to admit to the school a child with a statement of special needs that names the school.

If the number of applications exceeds the Published Admission Number (PAN), after the admission of children, where the school is named in the statement of special educational needs (SEN), the following oversubscription criteria will apply:

  1. Looked after children and all previously looked after children for whom the school has been expressed as a preference.
  2. Children the Authority believes to have special social or medical reasons for admission.
  3. Children living within the normal area of the school.
  4. Children living outside the normal area of the school.

Children whose 5th birthday falls between the 1st September and 31st August enter school at the beginning of the autumn term of that year.

At the end of the summer term, we invite the parents of all the following year’s Foundation Stage 2 intake to visit the school and meet the Foundation Stage teachers. This enables all prospective parents to ask questions and obtain an idea of the curriculum in the infant classes.
